Equality
Equal opportunities between the genders in science are firmly anchored in the Heinrich-Pette-Institute. This gender equality is the central issue of the "Gleichstellungsplan" (only in German language), that was passed in 2010.
The main issues are:
to increase the proportion of women in key postions in science
to promote the next generation of researchers and in particular, to promote the young female researchers
to inrease the proportion of women in the institute
to increase the participation of women in advisory commitees
to support the compatibility of work and family
to opose any form of discrimination.
In 2009 the HPI was honoured for its efforts on gender equality by the TOTAL E-QUALITY Prädikat.
The HPI cooperates with the "Vereinigung Hamburger Kindertagesstätten" in order to ensure childcare for HPI-employees in case of unforeseen circumstances and emergency.
