Location
The HPI is located on the campus of the University Clinic Eppendorf (UKE) in a district of Hamburg (see How to find us). Downtown Hamburg, the harbor, the main train station and the airport Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel are all in the vicinity of the institute and are easily accessible by public transportation.
The independent Free and Hanse city of Hamburg offers all the advantages of a pulsating metropolis and is acknowledged as one of the most beautiful and appealing cities in Germany.
Hamburg abounds in museums and international exhibitions. There are myriad cultural affairs, for instance, theaters, musicals, concerts and operas. State-of-the-art stadium and arenas are the centers for professional sporting events, such as soccer, handball, ice hockey, tennis and equestrian sports. Superlative environs with sandy beaches at the North Sea and Baltic Sea, the “Schleswig-Holstein Switzerland” with its panorama of lovely lakes and the Lüneberger heather landscape are readily accessible and can be reached in a relatively short time from downtown Hamburg.
